Presidential election: Buhari in early lead in Lagos as INEC declares results of 15 LGAs

APRNEWS - President Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is in early lead as INEC collated presidential election results of 15 local government areas of Lagos state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that APC won in most of the local government results declared so far in the much awaited collation.

Nigeria's senate president Bukola Saraki declares presidential bid

APRNEWS - Nigeria’s Senate President Bukola Saraki said on Thursday he will run for president in 2019, making him the highest profile contender to incumbent Muhammadu Buhari announced so far.

Saraki, Nigeria’s third most senior political official, made the announcement at a political event, where he was addressing young people in the capital Abuja.

Fifteen senators quit Nigeria ruling APC to join main opposition PDP

APRNEWS - A total of fifteen lawmakers on the ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have officially defected to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The move which comes ahead of general elections in 2019 means that the APC is currently the minority in the Senate – the country’s upper chamber of parliament.
