APRNEWS : Thiam elected leader of Ivory Coast opposition

APRNEWS - Thiam, a former boss of banking giant Credit Suisse, won very comfortably with 96.5 percent of the vote against 3.2 percent for his rival Jean-Marc Yace, the mayor of a commune in the economic hub Abidjan, according to the results announced late Friday.

"It is with great humility that I accept the responsibility that you have decided to entrust to me," Thiam said.

We have just learned of a big financial scandal within the Ivorian Treasury.

The Court noted that the repayments of bond loans, Treasury bonds and Treasury bills are not tracked in the General Account of the Finance Administration and a difference of 73,771,744,061 F between the amount of personnel expenses recorded in the presentation report of the regulatory bill (1 629 081 436 302 F) and that appearing in the CGAF (1 702 853 180 363 F).

Why legal experts were not surprised by the Rittenhouse jury's decision to acquit

After 27 hours of deliberation over the course of four days, a jury declared Kyle Rittenhouse not guilty on the five charges he faced after fatally shooting two people and wounding a third during a night of unrest in Kenosha, Wis., last year.

Rittenhouse trembled as the verdict was read, count by count, then collapsed in sobs.
