Brazil : Covid-19, hospitals 'run out of oxygen' for virus patients

Hospitals in the Brazilian city of Manaus have reached breaking point while treating Covid-19 patients, amid reports of severe oxygen shortages and desperate staff.
 

The city, in Amazonas state, has seen a rapid rise in deaths and infections.

Health professionals, quoted by local media, warned "many people" could die due to lack of supplies and assistance.

No fresh cases in 42 districts in 28 days, clinical trials for plasma therapy gets nod

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has received approval to conduct clinical trials of convalescent plasma therapy in 21 hospitals, the Health Ministry informed Friday during its evening briefing. In the last 24 hours, about 3,390 fresh Covid-19 cases have been reported pan-India totalling to 56,342 cases, including 1,886 deaths and 16,539 recovered.
