APRNEWS - Sudan’s army rulers and protest leaders said more talks were planned for Monday on finalising the makeup of a new ruling body, after hours of negotiations through the night ended without agreement.

Both sides have been at loggerheads over the new governing body that would rule Sudan for a three-year transitional period after the ouster last month of longtime autocrat Omar al-Bashir.

APRNEWS - Hundreds of demonstrators worked through the night into Friday clearing away bricks and debris, after military rulers demanded that roadblocks which have paralysed parts of Khartoum must be dismantled before talks on a new transitional body can resume.

APRNEWS - As Sudanese protesters blocked roads with burning tyres in the city of Omdurman Tuesday, angry demonstrators at a Khartoum sit-in accused loyalists of ousted president Omar al-Bashir’s of “dividing” the country.

APRNEWS - Sudan’s ruling military council said Tuesday that a brother of ousted president Omar al-Bashir who it previously announced had been detained was actually not in custody.

On April 17, the military council had announced that it had detained two of Bashir’s five brothers — Abdallah Hassan al-Bashir and Al-Abbas Hassan al-Bashir.

APRNEWS - Sudanese protest leaders on Wednesday accused the generals of trying to delay the transition from power to civilian life, and threatened to launch a national movement of “disobedience”.

APRNEWS - Sudanese opposition party, the Popular Congress Party, PCP, has distanced itself from the joint Civil-Military Council, agreement reached Sunday by protest leaders and the ruling military council.

In a press conference on Sunday, the party said it did not recognize the coalition formed to lead the transition and called for the appointment of a Christian as Prime Minister.

In Sudan, protests that started in December last year continue even after the military toppled president Omar al-Bashir.
