Prosecutors appeal acquittal of ex-Ivory Coast leader Gbagbo

APRNEWS - Prosecutors will appeal the International Criminal Court’s shock acquittal of former Ivory Coast president Laurent Gbagbo over post-election violence, but cannot do so yet as judges have not issued their full reasoning.

ICC judges cleared Gbagbo and his right-hand man Charles Ble Goude of charges of crimes against humanity on Tuesday.

Prosecutors plan to appeal Gbagbo ruling

APRNEWS - Prosecutors at the International Criminals Court (ICC) have said they plan to appeal the acquittal of Ex- Ivorian President, Laurent Gbagbo, according to a document cited by AFP.

Gbagbo and Charles Blé Goudé, who were charged with crimes against humanity, were freed by judges at the ICC on Tuesday. The judges ordered their immediate release.

APRNEWS - The International Criminal Court on Tuesday cleared ex-Ivorian president, Laurent Gbagbo of all war crimes charges and ordered for his immediate release.

Presiding Judge Cuno Tarfusser said that prosecutors failed to prove their case and Gbagbo and his co-defendant, Charles Blé Goudé, a close ally and former political youth leader, should be set free.
