Côte d’Ivoire: VIPNET successfully installs facial recognition and electronic payment system on test sites

APRNEWS - The telecom services provider VIPNET is currently successfully implementing the Japanese project for innovative secured access in Côte d'Ivoire.

This was revealed by the inspection visit conducted by Kaneko Kenji, director of policy coordination at Japan’s ministry of telecommunications, and Hata Takeshi, representative of the Japanese tech firm NEC, from February 6 to February 8, 2019, in Abidjan.

VIPNET, as the local partner of NEC to which Japan entrusted the implementation of the project in Côte d’Ivoire, successfully installed facial recognition technology and the electronic payment solution (via NFC) on various test sites of the IT and Biotechnology village (village des technologies de l’information et de la biotechnologie-VITIB).

The next step after this positive review is the extension of this project to administrations.

Ahmed Cherif, managing director of VIPNET, estimated that this positive evaluation was a sign of their expertise.

Let’s remind that VIPNET has also carried out mobile number portability projects in Côte d’Ivoire.
