APRNEWS : S.African panel releases President Ramaphosa's farm cash scandal report

APRNEWS - In June, it emerged that an estimated $4 million was robbed at the farm back in 2020, raising questions about how the billionaire president acquired the cash and whether he declared it.

The panel, formed in September, sought to find any preliminary evidence of wrongdoing by the president.

While Ramaphosa has confirmed that a robbery occurred, he said the cash was from proceeds from the sales of game.

APRNEWS : Over 4,000 Zimbabwean doctors and nurses left the country in 2021

APRNEWS - More than 4,000 health workers have left since 2021, HSB chairperson Dr Paulinus Sikosana told Reuters. This includes more than 1,700 registered nurses who resigned last year and more than 900 who left this year.

Health workers went on strike in June demanding to be paid in U.S. dollars as inflation further weakened the local currency.

APRNEWS - Bob Chapek, who replaced Iger in 2020 as CEO, is stepping down immediately.

“We thank Bob Chapek for his service to Disney over his long career, including navigating the company through the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic,” Susan Arnold, Chairman of the Board for Disney, said in a statement on Sunday night. “The Board has concluded that as Disney embarks on an increasingly complex period of industry transformation, Bob Iger is uniquely situated to lead the Company through this pivotal period.”

APRNEWS : EU and four member countries to provide over 1 bln euros for climate adaptation in Africa -official

APRNEWS - He added the four members are France, Germany, the Netherlands and Denmark and other countries can join.

The sum is a starting point, he said.

Timmermans also said the EU will provide 60 million euros for loss and damage and will present ideas today on how to take loss and damage negotiations forward.

APRNEWS - Speaking at a dinner hosted by the country's Governor General, the Duke of Cambridge echoed remarks made by his father Prince Charles in November denouncing slavery but stopped short of apologizing for his family's historic role in the slave trade.

"I strongly agree with my father, the Prince of Wales, who said in Barbados last year that the appalling atrocity of slavery forever stains our history," William said.
